How to avoid ZTL fines in Rome
Rome's ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) covers the historic center, Trastevere and Tridente with different hours per sector. A fine starts at around €100 and can reach you months later.
- ALWAYS check the sector's active hours before driving in: they vary by weekday, weekend and summer schedule.
- Gates are automatic cameras — there's no barrier, but the fine is issued anyway.
- If you're in a rental car, the fine is charged to the rental company's card with an extra fee.

How do I use the offline map?
- Tap Download above while you're online: the app stores the map, the 7 sectors and every gate in the browser's memory (no file is placed in your Downloads folder).
- Add the site to your Home Screen: on iPhone open Safari → Share button → Add to Home Screen. On Android open Chrome → ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen.
- When you're offline, open the icon from your Home Screen (or reopen the site from a bookmark) and go to /rome-ztl-map: you'll see the map, sectors and gates exactly like online.
- To refresh the data (new gates, updated hours) tap Update when you're back online.

Park outside the ZTL
Avoid €100+ fines: leave the car here and take the metro or a short walk into the centre. Park & Ride lots next to metro stations are the safest option for visitors.
