Public transport in Rome: what to know
Rome has 3 metro lines (A, B, C), trams, buses and regional trains. The BIT ticket (€1.50) is valid for 100 minutes on the whole ATAC network and includes one metro ride.
- Buy your ticket BEFORE boarding: they're not sold on board and inspectors fine €54 on the spot.
- Termini is the main hub: metro A+B, national trains, buses to Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
- On Sundays and at night frequency drops sharply: plan your return in advance.
