Where are the public drinking fountains?
You will find them in the Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Regent's Park, St James's Park), in busy squares, along the South Bank and in several large stations. Many are modern bottle-refill stations; some are historic Victorian fountains. Our live map shows the nearest one to your position.
Can you refill in cafés and shops?
Yes. Many cafés, shops and chains take part in the Refill scheme: look for the blue "Refill" sticker in the window, or use the free Refill app, and they will fill your bottle with tap water for free, without you having to buy anything.
Do pubs and restaurants give free tap water?
Yes. In England, venues licensed to sell alcohol must provide free tap water to customers who ask for it. Just ask for "tap water": if you only say "water", you may be offered a paid bottle.

What should you watch out for?
Some older fountains are out of order or switched off in winter, and park fountains follow the park's opening hours. Before you walk far for one, check the map.
