Via in Arcione ZTL Gate

Sector C camera — Colonna / Trevi

OFF now — you can drive through

Automatic plate-reading camera. If you drive past during active hours you get a ~€100 fine, mailed to you weeks or months later.

What this gate is

Via in Arcione is one of the camera gates of Rome's historic-centre ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone). There is no physical barrier — a camera photographs every plate, and if the ZTL is active your car is automatically issued a ~€100 administrative fine (mailed within 90-360 days).

Active hours

Lun-Ven 06:30-18:00; Sab 14:00-18:00

Suspended on Italian public holidays and Sundays.

I booked a hotel inside this zone

You may drive through ONLY if the hotel registers your plate with Roma Mobilità before your arrival. Send them your plate number and arrival/departure dates at least 24h in advance. Without registration the fine is issued anyway, even with a booking receipt.

FAQ

Can I drive through right now?

Check the banner at the top: green = safe, red = fine. The status updates in real time based on the sector's official schedule and Italian public holidays.

How much is the fine?

Around €80 paid within 5 days, €100 within 60 days, more than double after that. Postal notification fees (~€13) are added.

I'm in a rental car — what happens?

The rental company gets the fine, charges the original amount + a handling fee (usually €30-50) to your card, and forwards your data to the Rome municipality.

Can I appeal?

Yes, within 60 days to the Prefect (free) or the Justice of the Peace (with court fees). Appeals usually succeed only if hotel/disabled/resident registration is verifiable or the camera was faulty.
