Where to buy groceries

For breakfast in your room, a snack or just avoiding tourist prices, supermarkets are the most reliable option. Many are open on Sundays and late.

Look on the streets just behind the main squares — prices drop immediately there.
Typical hours: 7:30/8:00 am – 9:00 pm. In Rome larger chains open on Sundays; Paris and London have longer hours.
Cards accepted everywhere; cash only useful for small purchases.
  • Rome: Carrefour, Conad, Coop, Pam
  • Paris: Franprix, Monoprix, Carrefour City
  • London: Tesco Express, Sainsbury's Local, Co-op
